Waterproof paint?

The Guardian, Saturday 12 September 2009

Is there a paint that can cope with the direct hit of a shower? I have an over-the-bath shower and untiled walls.

DIY expert Julian Cassell, co-author of DIY: Know-How With Show-How (Dorling Kindersley), says, “Try specifically formulated bathroom paints, or even varnishing the walls, but any decorative paint or wall finish is not designed for direct water attack so will deteriorate quickly. A more practical solution would be a circular or oval shower curtain rail, so both the wall and open side of the bath are protected. Prices vary a lot, but smart-bathrooms.co.uk (01480 468470) is a good starting place for ideas.”
